Adding Page and Updating Website

Hello again, we have been adding a page and updating the website for the coming year. I have finally created a page for the book, “At Loggerheads” which was self-published by the author in 2001. The photo on the front is from a picture that the author painted. There is no official “Synopsis” written anywhere that I could find but from reading the first chapter I created something for the Tish McWhinney fans on the new page.

Sadly, this book is also out of print and only available on places like eBay, Amazon used books, and Abe Books which is rare. However, you can still get a “print-on-demand” copy in softcover and hardback directly from the printing company, Xlibris. That is how I got my copy. The price is not bad at all. I may even end up ordering the hardback format. Check out their page:
https://www.xlibris.com/en/bookstore/bookdetails/554226-at-loggerheads I believe it only took about a week or two from the time I ordered it for it to arrive. I just haven’t had the time to read it all the way through.

Checking the Copyright Office Listings

One of the things I like to do is check the Copyright Office’s database for each of my favorite author’s names. Sometimes you will find something they published that you didn’t know about. Ms. Comfort was an artist and apparently, she consented to illustrating at least 2 books. One is for a YA book about witches and the other is a biographical history:

Cheese that changed many lives – or A Sentimental history of a tiny town high in the green mountains. Published in 1950 and renewed in 1978 by Samuel R. Ogden – There is one copy on eBay for $170 and the other is in the Library of Congress.

“The story of Landgrove, Vermont and how the author came to buy the entire Town in 1929. Has a brief background of the author and his family, Early to mid 20th Century and contains various stories of the author’s friends and neighbors in Landgrove over the years Illustrated by Barbara Comfort.”

The YA Book is called Tower by the Sea by Meindert DeJong originally published in 1950 and renewed in 1978. There are used copies still available on various websites but you can also read it online at the OpenLibrary.org

If you would like to share your stories about the books or the author, please use the CONTACT US form and let us know. I am sure there are still some fans out there who would like to share their reviews about the stories, come up with stories you would have liked to read by the author, or even have all of the books converted over to eBook format. Wouldn’t that be a hoot?!
